Dwarkadhish Temple

The Dwarkadhish Mandir is the main temple on Beyt Dwarka and one of the most popular pilgrimage sites in India. The temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna. It is believed that he lived on the island during his lifetime while his court was situated in Dwarka.

The Dwarkadhish temple is a fine example of ancient Indian architecture. Although it has undergone several renovations and restorations over the centuries, the temple is known for its stunning beauty.

The main shrine houses an idol of Lord Krishna which is believed to be made out of the sand by the hands of Goddess Rukshmani herself around 5000 years back during the time of their Viyog caused by a curse of Rishi Durvasha. Apart from the main shrine, the temple also has 20 smaller shrines dedicated to other deities, including Lord Satyanarayan, Lord Shiva, Goddess Laksmi, Goddess Radha and much more.

This particular idol of Dwarkadhish housed in the temple is believed to be brought to Beyt Dwarka by Shri Mahaprabhuji (same as the Shrinathji temple in Nathdwara, Rajasthan) and he himself did the Pranprathishta for the temple some 500 years back. The Pooja routine followed here is the one that follows the rules of Vaishnavism which is why the idol is 'Nidhi Swaroop'.

Moreover, the Dwarkadhish temple of Beyt Dwarka overlooks the routine that consists of 13 bhog and 9 aarti darshans each day. The Bhog seva is offered by the primary 4 patranis that are amongst the other shrines of the temple, namely, Goddess Laxmi, Goddess Stayabhama, Goddess Jambuvanti and Goddess Radha.

The Dwarkadhish Mandir holds great significance for Hindus and is one of the four sacred dhams or pilgrimage sites in India. It attracts millions of devotees from all over the world, especially during festivals like Janmashtami and Holi. Its awe-inspiring architecture, cultural significance, and deep spiritual roots make it an essential destination for you to experience inner peace.
